Cornhole Bags

If you have never played Cornhole before, or have only played once or twice, you probably think it is just a matter of stepping into the pitchers box and tossing a few cornhole bags. While it really is a simple game, there are cornhole bag tossing techniques you can use to improve your accuracy. The technique you choose to use will depend on which one works best for you, and what you feel most comfortable with. There are four basic cornhole bag tossing techniques we have identified. These are just a few of the hundreds of ways folks are now pitching.

4 ways to throw your cornhole bags:

  • 1. The Basic Fold- You fold the cornhole bag in half. That's pretty simple, isn't it? But there are a few things you need to do before you fold the bag. Make sure the cornhole bag is flat and the corn inside is evenly distributed. If you don't, your cornhole bag will be uneven, and can fly off to unintended destinations.
  • 2. The Double Fold- Hold the bag by one corner and let all the corn fall to the bottom of the bag. Fold it in half, then fold it again as you would in the Basic Fold. You now have a much smaller object to toss, and some folks feel they have greater control of the cornhole bag when they use this technique.
  • 3. The Sling- This toss is nothing more than holding the cornhole bag by one corner and "slinging" it at the target. Some Cornhole players feel this technique gives them more control, but this technique also results in a lot of wild throws. This doesn't help much in winning the game or increasing the confidence of a player, but it does result in many humorous moments.
  • 4. The Pancake- This is the most common approach for the majority of amateur cornhole game players. It\'s really simple to do too. You just pick up the cornhole bag and toss it underhanded at the target. After a few throws that land in various unintended places, you should be able to find your range and, at least, get close to the hole with a majority of your throws.
Once you decide which tossing technique is right for you, stick with it so it becomes second nature. You can even alter it a bit to fit your style, which is what I have done. If you find that none of these cornhole bag tossing techniques work for you, simply invent your own.

Caring for your new Cornhole Bags

It is imperative that you keep your cornhole bags in a dry place for storing. We recommend that you keep them in a container that you can seal off. This will guarantee rodents, or other animals won't find them. Squirrels are known for tearing open and eating the corn from cornhole bags if given the chance. Never leave them outside! Always play in an area that is dry. Damp cornhole bags will mold and not last long.
